의미: desires de·sire〔L 「별에서 (대망(待望)하다)」의 뜻에서〕 vt.

1 몹시 바라다, 욕구하다; 원하다, 희망하다(⇒ want [유의어])
▶ We all desire success. 우리는 모두 성공을 바란다.
▶ 《desire+to do》 We desire to be happy. 우리는 행복하여지기를 바란다.
▶ 《desire+목+to do》 I desire you to go at once. 나는 네가 곧 가 주기를 바란다.
